Hey!
This is my entry for Whytmanga's tournament. 100% traditional artwork. Copic markers.
After reading the first chapter of "Apple Black", I got a mini "glimpse" of how Osamu and Sanosuke's personalities are, and I tried my best to reflect that upon my entry. I drew the following characters; Sanosuke (bottom right), Osamu (left), Pharaoh Kufo (middle) and Anubis (all over the place, haha!). The setting is outside the temple of Anubis, in the world of my upcoming one-shot, "Millennium X". I gave Odunze's original characters a new wardrobe inspired by features that are to be found in my one-shot. In addition, I tried out this new perspective. I also made my alternate design of Anubis, for example; I made a blue disc of hieroglyphics spin over his shoulders. The Egyptian letters spell "A-N-U-B-I-S". I think it turned out pretty sweet!

Overall Vision Originality
Technique ImpactMy first critique, so here goes:
Vision:
Very clear! Obviously they are going up against a big bad (whose a god, no less) and there's about to be an epic showdown!
Originality:
Very original in the drawing style, the outfit of the characters, the setting, and Anubis there in the middle. Adding the hieroglyphs really took this piece to another level. Only -.5 star because that perspective is something that had been seen a lot
Technique:
There is a lot going on in this piece, and the thing that makes it hard to focus is the use of lines. The strong lines are all over the place, drawing the eyes everywhere. Good uses of lines are found with the character in the middle and anubis at the top. The strong lines separate the character from the background so the eye isn't confused. Near the character on the right is confusing area.
As for coloring, that was really good, and well put together, though again on the right it need a bit more to balance out the red on the left and pull the piece together.
Impact:
However, the linework I mentioned earlier does help to reinforce the hecticness and chaos of battle, and the impact is really strong.
Overall a really well done piece! ^_^
